Things I Would Like/Ought To Do

Get comfortable with the manual setting of my camera
Polish up my French
Spinning ... on spindle or wheel
Travel more but not for work ... to Africa/Asia/Europe.
Wing Chun! ... but sometimes Krav Maga.
Wing Chun might be more" woman-friendly" (i.e., not so dependent on assumed body strengths ... from what I have read, it was developed by a woman to address these very concerns).

RETIRED (and, in some cases, what was I thinking?):
More effective Baby Signing (For the Record: I do it all the time ... my audience seems receptive but not participatory).

Ellipticals vs. Treadmills

Which is better? This article at Self Growth has a good summary of pros and cons. It has me leaning even moreso towards an elliptical.
Ellipticals offer a lower impact, full body workout. You can get a good elliptical for less than a good treadmill.

A good general knowledge article on Treadmills at Runner's World. Here are some rules of thumb from the article:

• "... getting a deck larger than the standard 60" x 20" probably won't matter."
• "... pay attention to the motor's continuous duty rating, rather than its peak duty rating. Runners need 2.5 to 3 horsepower continuous duty, but any more can be overkill."
• "Look for lifetime coverage of the frame, three years on all parts, and at least one year on labor. And since all machines will require some maintenance, be sure there is a certified technician in your area ..."

UPDATE: We went with the Schwinn Elliptical. It is fantastic!

An important note from G. Donnald, a reviewer at Amazon:

Just a note to those that are interested in buying this book. The 13-week run/walk program was completely revised between the 2001 and 2005 editions of the book. The 2001 edition is a much gentler approach, while the 2005 edition assumes that you have a certain level of fitness. Just to illustrate: the very first session of the first week of the 13 week program in the 2005 edition calls for "run 1 minute, walk 2 minutes; do this 12 times" (the 9th time just about killed me), whereas the 2001 edition of the book starts with "run 30 seconds, walk 4 minutes 30 seconds; do this 7 times". So if you're more fit you may be happy with the 2005 edition, otherwise try to find the 2001 or 1999 editions of the book. Otherwise, I liked the book a lot.
